Bojan Šarčević: Gyrobifastigium

"Šarčević presents works made from elemental and evocative sculptural materials - onyx, wax, and fire - that realise beautiful expressions of abstract and mathematical geometric form. On the floor of one room rests a candle burning atop an onyx polyhedron that has been made from a flat sheet of stone as if folded according to the rules of a particular subset of polyhedra known in geometry as ‘Johnson Solids’ (convex polyhedra whose faces are formed from regular, but non-uniform polygons)."

Cristina Lucas: On Air

Alejandro Ospina: Megalopolis

"In previous work Ospina has taken portraits from the web profiles of a tech-savy youth, literate in the manipulations and visual vocabulary of contemporary image-making. Having reframed these portraits via painting as an interaction between identity, technology and media, Ospina now pans back to present the world these avatars inhabit. ... Ospina’s work uses architectures of painting as a way of negotiating contemporary problems of image-making and artistic production in a networked world of complex relationships, inconsistent representations, and of technologies that have produced a flow of information at a magnitude and rate that is literally super-human."

Art Paris Art Fair 2013

Press Release 23rd January 2013

AN EASTERLY WIND IS BLOWING OVER
ART PARIS ART FAIR 2013
RUSSIA IS GUEST OF HONOUR

From 28th March to 1st April 2013, ART PARIS ART FAIR brings together 140 galleries from 21 countries under the majestic glass roof of the Grand Palais. The fair presents modern and contemporary art and is confirming its identity as the art event that focusses on the art scenes of the East (Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia). For the first time, it has decided to invite a country as guest of honour. This year it is Russia.

MANY NEWCOMERS AND A MORE INTERNATIONAL SELECTION
With 61 newcomers to the fair, the 2013 selection brings profound changes and a notable expansion of its international dimension. This year, 21 countries are represented (compared to 16 in 2012) and a total of 43% of participants are from abroad. Several countries are joining for the first time, notably Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia and finally Russia, which comes with an unprecedented representation of 11 galleries.

Among the new participants are Laurent Delaye Gallery (London), Michel Soskine (Madrid), Heino Gallery (Helsinki), Tanit (Munich), Bodson-Emelinckx Gallery (Brussels), Várfok Gallery (Budapest), SEM Art Gallery (Monaco), Mimmo Scognamiglio (Milan) et Galleria Giuseppe Pero (ex 1 000 Eventi, Milan).

With regards to France, ART PARIS ART FAIR welcomes the return of several leading galleries, including Christophe Gaillard, Suzanne Tarasiève and Christian Berst. A number of other major French players on the art scene are coming for the first time, notably Pièce Unique, Anne de Villepoix, Galerie Maeght and Fleury in the modern section.

RUSSIA, COUNTRY OF HONOUR
In line with its policy of exploring the art scenes of the East, Art Paris Art Fair has invited Russia as guest of honour. A central space in the fair will be dedicated to some 10 galleries from a number of cities in Russia including, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Vladivostok while some 15 European galleries will show work by Russian artists. With around 90 artists represented, ART PARIS ART FAIR will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover Russian art, with work made by leading talents from the diaspora of the 1920s and 1930s (such as Boris Grigoriev and Aleksandr Yakovlev), the non-conformists who opposed the Soviet power culture from 1960 to 1991 (Vladimir Andreenkov, Erik Bulatov, Igor Makarevich…) to the stars of the contemporary art scene (AES+F, Olga Chernysheva, Oleg Kulik, Boris Mikhailov, Pavel Pepperstein, Olga Kisseleva, Alexei Vassiliev...).

Also on show at the fair will be the leading figures of Russian photography such as Nikolay Bakharev and Alexander Gronsky at Grindberg Gallery and Rauf Mamedov at Lilja Zakriova Gallery.

“PROMISES:” A NEW SECTION DEDICATED TO YOUNG GALLERIES
This year ART PARIS ART FAIR is launching a new section entitled “Promises” reserved for galleries that have been established for less than five years and who have never participated in the fair. Twelve galleries are taking part in this new initiative which aims to provide an opportunity to discover new talents. The 2013 selection includes the following : 16th Line (Rostov on Don), Leonardi Agosti (Sète), Backslash (Paris), Duplex 10m² (Sarajevo), Edward Cutler (Milan), Lam Art Gallery (Riyad), Lehr Zeitgenössische Kunst (Cologne), NK Gallery (Antwerp), Gallery de Roussan (Paris), Vincent Sator (Paris), Trinity Contemporary (London), XPO Gallery (Paris).
“Promises” is supported by l’Officiel Art

ARTDESIGN PLATFORM : EXPLORING THE LINKS BETWEEN DESIGN AND CONTEMPORARY ART
The objective of the Artdesign platform is the exploration of the links and cross-over between design and contemporary art. Eight cutting-edge galleries have been selected to present one-of-a-kind, exclusive pieces made by contemporary talents. On show will be for example the “sculpture-objects” made by Hubert Le Gall presented as a one-man show by Mazel Gallery, unique pieces by Mattia Bonetti at Cat-Berro gallery, and the latest work by designers Arik Levy, matali Crasset and Pupsam at Slott gallery. Domeau & Pérès gallery will present a thematic « monochrome » show while MiniMasterpiece gallery will uncover jewels made by artists and designers. For its first participation, Perimeter honors the African design.
The Artdesign platform is supported by IDEAT Magazine

SPRINGTIME IN PARIS
Entitled Springtime in Paris, the VIP programme is designed to highlight the best on what is happening on the Paris art scene with major exhibitions such as Adrian Paci at Jeu de Paume, Anticorps by Antoine d’Agata at le Bal, Correspondances at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton, Disaster Thaddaeus Ropac’s new gallery space in Pantin, Julio Le Parc at the Palais de Tokyo, Ettore Sottsass at Sèvres-Cité de la Céramique, Walid Raad at the Louvre museum and Alina Szapocznikow, dessins at the Pompidou Centre. Juergen Teller: Woo!

The creation of a sense of individuality and character, but also of belonging - images unfold personal meanings and intimacy. Juergen Teller photographs have an intimacy and identifying understanding about them, and not in relation to oneself. They institute some reality into a world of fantasy, just like movies and reality TV. Where everyday life inspiration is drawn, in particular, from popular music and from street-style fashion. If, on one side, "the exhibition asserts that the fashion photographer proves to be an acute observer and interpreter of" our time, instead of finding the past behind the present; on the other, Woo! it is a realisation that art, in general, need not be an exercise in mirroring reality, "it could have a magical role of capturing and controlling desires, seductions, terrors, pinning them down with colour and form."
«woo: there are plenty of synonyms for sex, not enough for flirtation and romantic pursuit, for the work of winning someone over. Make love used to refer to the process toward, with a little useful ambiguity; now it strictly denotes the act. Court sounds too aristocratic and medieval; seduce is overly limited to the carnal objective. That leaves woo. It's true that woo sounds a little goofy, but that might be ameliorated by more frequent use, or could even be considered a useful bonus connotation in a word for an activity that can put anybody in danger of making a fool of themselves.»

Third resolution

A firm decision to convert my abstract feeling of 'Love Her' into form. Anyway, I'm profoundly concerned about misunderstandings in what is expect, or had failed to communicate the position stand in the relationship.

newsfromlondon201301

In the last couple of months had been cleaning the water around the statue from dirty environments, insidious movements and slippery surfaces, as well as removing other filthy covering it and destructive objects claiming unnecessarily my attention, so I could make the watery surface a better mirror with a more bright and fine natural cleaner image of the statue in the middle of the surface and its surrounding conditions, the sky, the trees, the people, the city in which it is set and exists.

You're back

Back home; back with friends that will live shortly; back long gone contacts from places where the sun sets and feelings about ways of thought and behave in the world of practice; back to silence and musical moments in information and in communication; back to black & and white and colour images reflecting life and death. Waiting strongly for someone to come back, since it has been more time spent absent from each other than before; desperate not wanting someone to come back, there are things they take time, 5, 10, 15 years, not 6 months. Feels good to be back! to return to an earlier position and more normal condition.

Shed my skin since you came in
Where do you end and I begin?
Awoke my senses yet you stopped time
You took me to a deeper high
The essence of my hopes and fears
Creation of my muddled dreams
Cowboy style with a peaceful smile
You are from the temple won’t you stay a while
From my voice to have my say
You take me close to far away
And now I find and now I feel
The ordinary is surreal
Peace and terror all in one
My future life has just begun
Cowboy style with a peaceful smile
You are from the temple won’t you stay a while
I am frightened I’m aroused
I’m enlightened to the now
Cowboy style with a peaceful smile
You are from the temple won’t you stay a while
