55. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte dal titolo 'Il Palazzo Enciclopedico // The Encyclopedic Palace'
Republic of Korea pavilion: To Breathe: Bottari by Kimsooja, invites "only the bodies of the audience to encounter the infinite reflections of light and sound."
Russia pavilion by Vadim Zakharon
Finland/Nordic pavilion: Falling Trees, by Antti Laitinen and Terike Haapoja, is "a research laboratory of sorts, a space for an open dialogue between art, natural science and environmental ethics."
France pavilion (protagonist together with Germany of a non-conventional exchange of pavilions): Ravel Ravel unravel, by Anri Sala.
Great Britain pavilion by Jeremy Deller, "brings together elements from traditional and contemporary culture to create new types of work, ... and events which are often humorous, but which don't seek to satirise the people or subjects involved."
Germany pavilion (protagonist together with France of a non-conventional exchange of pavilions) is "an active participant in a complex, worldwide constellation." Curator Susanne Gaensheimer "has invited four international artists from different countries: Ai Weiwei (Pic.), Dayanita Singh, Santu Mofokeng, Romuald Karmakar." But, that "are associated with the German art scene".
Australia pavilion: Here art grows on trees, by Simryn Gill
Uruguay pavilion: Time (Time) Time, by Wifredo Diaz Valdez.
United Stated of America pavilion: Triple Point, by Sarah Sze
Israel pavilion: The Workshop, by Gilad Ratman, "documents the journey of a community of people from Israel to Venice".
