The revenue figures generated by the Contemporary Art auctions at Christie's and Sotheby's for the February 10th-11th 2010 London sales «was up to 255% vs. the previous year», and for the May 11th-12nd 2010 New York sales «posted a 230% increase vs. the previous year», according to the annual report publish by Artprice at Paris FIAC (International Contemporary Art Fair) last October. Still accordingly with the same report «the success of these sales depended much more on the "classics" of Post-War and Contemporary Art like Andy Warhol, Yves Klein (both born in 1928), Marc Rothko (born in 1903), Jackson Pollock (born in 1912) and Lucian Freud (born in 1922)» rather than the generation born after 1945 like Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons or Takashi Murakami.
