Tamara Kvesitadze (Tbilisi, Georgia in 1968) is representing Georgia at the 54 La Biennale di Venezia, in 2011


«Kvesitadze's work is all about contrasts: between the organic and the mechanic, the cold stone and the warm flesh of the body. Georgia is at the crossroads of the East and the West, where the two civilisations meet, so these contrasts are consistent with her work. There is a Georgian saying which reflects this idea: 'Unless you die, you cannot be reborn.'
