Affinities are those elements that humans share, as well as those they don't. It is a spontaneous or natural liking or sympathy for someone or something, such as, for instance, a similarity of characteristics that may suggest a relationship; a resemblance in structure between bodies, such as animals, plants, or languages; or in a relationship, for instance, by marriage as opposed to blood ties; or in the sense of affinis ‘related’ (literally ‘bordering on’ ), from ad- ‘to’ + finis ‘border.’
